
In an Australian study, bad moods are believed to help boost memory, promote information processing strategies best suited to dealing with challenging situation, and improve our ability to judge others.
The study showed that negative moods trigger more careful thinking. People in a bad mood were less likely to make snap decisions based on racial or religious prejudices than people, who were more likely to believe anything they were told.
