To avoid infections, French skincare expert Jaklin Idris reminded women not to keep their make-up for too long.
Idris told the Wall Street Journal that while many products can last up to three years if unopened, they should be thrown away within 24 months. And for products used on the eyes, it is shortened to just six months.
She explained that most eye products do not contain many preservatives to make sure they don’t irritate the sensitive eye area.
“They don’t last for a long time,” she warned.
She also said that putting make-up products in the fridge to make them last longer is more of “an urban legend”.
