A Japanese couple was married but this time with a robot leading the ceremony.
This is the first time where a robot facilitates a wedding ceremony. The nuptial was held at a restaurant in Hibiya Park in Tokyo. A four-foot robot named I-Fairy directed the ceremony wearing a wreath of flowers.
With the government’s active support in the field of future growth, Japan has one of the world’s most advance robotics industries.
Asking about her wedding, the bride, Satoko Inoue, said:
“This was a lot of fun. I think that Japanese have a strong sense that robots are our friends. Those in the robot industry mostly understand this, but people mainly want robots near them that serve some purpose.”
The bride works at a manufacturing company named Kokoro, the same company who made the robot that married her and new husband Tomohiro Shibata.
Kokoro’s I-FAIRY is capable of generating natural seeming movements like head nods and arm gestures based up on the speech it has been loaded with.
