2010 Election: Expressing Disappointment

philippines' 2010 election

A few hours have passed since I posted my voting experience on my dear country’s first ever automated election. Now people in Commission on Election or COMELEC are busy summing up or processing the votes transmitted to servers from different precincts all over the nation.

This automated election really made a big difference for the Philippines. A director from the COMELEC stated that number of voters who actively participated increased. And I stand corrected for saying earlier, on my previous post, that this election will not make any difference. Also, the generation of results are really fast. That’s the good thing about technology, it makes our life easier. A task of tallying votes that usually takes a few days is now accomplished within a few hours.

Media giants are covering the process and once in a while they give partial and unofficial figure of the votes, who’s leading the race and what percentage did that candidate got. I’m disappointed on the current result.

Former president Joseph Estrada is a few digits away from Senator Benigno Simeon III landing on the second place as of this posting. I mean we ousted him before for plunder. He was imprisoned and now we’re bringing him back?? I thought we already learned. I thought we wanted change.

This is really sad and disappointing. I hope he (Erap) will not win. Please!!
