Google, for a week, has been celebrating Sesame Street’s 40th anniversary by featuring its muffets. The first cast to be featured was Big Bird (November 4) followed by Cookie Monster (November 5). Next were roommates Bert and Ernie (November 6) then Oscar the Grouch (November 7). It was Elmo’s turn on November 8 and come November 9, the spotlight is on Count Von Count. But today, the featured muffets are joined by their other friends Zoe, Rosita, Grover, and Abby Cadabby.

The main goal of the series is to educate children. “Sesame Street was built around a single, breakthrough insight: that if you can hold the attention of children, you can educate them”, stated by the show’s author, Malcolm Gladwell. Sesame Street premiered on November 10, 1969, and is the longest running children’s program on US television.
