Here’s the not-so-romantic belief about kissing – we kiss to spread Cytomegalovirus, a common virus that may be present without symptoms in healthy people.
Kissing, according to scientists, allows Cytomegalovirus to be passed from man to woman to give her time to build up protection against it.
The virus is found in saliva. It can be extremely dangerous if contracted during pregnancy and may lead to hearing loss, vision problems, and behavioral problems in a child. However, pre-pregnancy exposure to the virus via kissing is a good thing.
